Congressional Task Force on Illegal Guns Hearing
April 15 - Today, the bipartisan Congressional Task Force on Illegal Guns held a hearing to examine the problem of illegal gun trafficking. Mayors testified before the task force about common sense measures that Congress can take to fight the flow of illegal guns into America's cities. The task force also heard testimony from witnesses with direct knowledge of the illegal gun trade.

Mayors Against Illegal Guns held its 2008 national summit in Washington, DC. The coalition announced a landmark partnership with Wal-Mart to put in place practices to reduce the risk of illegal gun purchases. The coalition also unveiled a new television advertisement drawing attention to the bipartisan common ground that exists between all 3 presidential candidates when it comes to protecting Americans from crimes committed with illegal guns.

March 3, 2008 - Mayors Against Illegal Guns convened in Florida to address issues including the economic costs of gun violence, the role of state legislatures, and the importance of community involvement in combating illegal gun crimes.
